II. Background Information | ||||||||||||||
The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management (MoHADM) of South West State of Somalia (SWSS) is the principal state institution responsible for managing and coordinating all humanitarian affairs and disaster management activities in SWS. The ministry was officially established in August 2017.

III. Purpose of the positions | ||||||||||||||
As the number of COVID-19 cases in SWS continues to rise, the Ministry would like to scale up COVID-19 awareness-raising campaign to intensify community outreach efforts to educate people on measures to limit transmission of the coronavirus. The campaign aim to reach the highly congested IDPs camps in Baidoa that is heavily at risk.

IV. Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the Public Health Officers
· Under the direction of the project coordinator or his/her designate, the incumbent will perform activities related to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak on the safety of personnel, vulnerable communities and enhance the community health through awareness raising and preventive guidance.
· Train and lead the team and volunteers that will conduct routine risk communication, raising awareness and contact tracing. · Investigate suspect/confirmed cases of COVID-19 and ensure that comprehensive responses are undertaken through referral to the relevant stakeholders. · Monitor epidemiological trends within the IDPs and host Community including surveillance activity reports for necessary adjustments of COVID-19 control measures. · Conduct/participate in training and mentoring of medical staff in awareness activities with local and regional health authorities, other agencies, and organizations. · Work with other health personnel and relevant mission stakeholders for resolution of public health problems and proper dissemination of information on diseases control · Participate in the development and review of reporting formats for COVID-19 for the ministry. · Participate in the development of a risk communication strategy for COVID-19, preparedness and response plans including relevant SOPs on behalf of the office the ministry. · Performs any other duties assigned his/ her designate. · Ability to work in a professional, responsible, and timely manner while safeguarding · Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a multinational environment. · Ability to manage small teams with minimal supervision |

V: Minimum Qualifications Requirement
|
||||||||||||||
The prospective candidate,
· Must have completed a Diploma or certificate program in Public Health. · Must have at least three years of continuous experience in general nursing or · Relevant experience in occupational, tropical, and travel medicine is an advantage

VI: Experience
|
||||||||||||||
· Minimum of three years of experience in Nursing with a bias on Public Health programs such as management of epidemic outbreaks.
· Knowledge of working with local Government bodies and community · Skill in organizing work of self and others · Governance and Leadership and development · Proficient with Microsoft office package · Problem-solving techniques · Fluency in an English language and Somali – Knowledge of Maay Maay is an added advantage |
