| The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management (MoHADM) of Southwest State of Somalia (SWSS) is the principal state institution responsible for managing and coordinating all humanitarian affairs and disaster management activities in SWS. The ministry was officially established in August 2017. | ||||||||||||
| III. Description of the position | ||||||||||||
| The Ministry of humanitarian Affairs & Disaster Management, SWS (MOHADM), is seeking to hire Consultant -DRR under Somali Disaster Risk Reduction, UNDP. This project supports the provision of technical assistance to the MOHADM, SWS in implementing its overall strategy, prepare detailed work plans, and establish standardized approaches to Disaster Risk Reduction.
This position is Twelve (12) months but may be renewed depending on performance and availability of funds. The MOHADM SWS invites applicants who are citizens of Somalia for this position. The Consultant -DRR will work under the supervision of SWS Ministry of humanitarian & Disaster Management. Achievement of Deliverables will be approved by the minister. Payment will be made upon certification by supervisor including time sheets for actual dates of work and performance in accordance with activities and deliverables as reported in the activity report. |

| IV. Duties and Responsibilities | ||||||||||||
| · The Short-Time Consultant will work under the supervision of SWS Ministry of humanitarian & Disaster Management, support on training of Drought recovery and DRR.
· To support in community based EW system · Conduct training on livelihood skills/green recovery for urban youth for including IDPs in urban location · Support in Resilience Micro-enterprise development in urban centers · Support in community based Resilience recovery · To prepare concept notes highlighting priority DRR schemes and Geographic targeting, number of gender responsive local DRR sachems Implimentation in disaster vulnerable communities and beneficiary selection based on the gender (Women Headed households) from disaster prone locations. · Develop training modules and conduct training related activities and ensure quality, timely reporting. · Prepare and provide activities periodic progress report · With guidance and mentoring from the Humanitarian and development Nexus senior Officer, the position-holder will lead in activity planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting. S/he will drive project implementation, ensuring project activities take place on-time, on-target and within budget |

| V: Qualifications | ||||||||||||
| Education:
· University degree in any of the disciplines under Social Sciences, Disaster Management and/or · Bachelor’s degree in Economics or related discipline from a recognized university Experience: . 3 years’ experience, 2 of which must have been in the public or nonprofit service |

| VI: Skill Requirements | ||||||||||||
| · Knowledge of working with local Government bodies and community
· Skill in organizing work of self and others · Governance and Leadership and development · Proficient with Microsoft office package · Problem-solving techniques · Fluency in an English language and Somali – Knowledge of MaayMaay is an added advantage |
