- Background
The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management (MoHADM) of South West State, with technical and financial support from the World Food Programme (WFP), is implementing activities under the Shock Responsive Social Protection (SRSP) framework. The intervention aims to strengthen community-based disaster risk management (CBDRM) systems, early warning–early action, coordination mechanisms, and community outreach in drought- and flood-prone districts of South West State. To ensure effective coordination, implementation, reporting, and stakeholder engagement, MoHADM will recruit a Project Coordinator to oversee day-to-day execution of project activities in line with the Technical Assistance Agreement.
- Duty Station
Baidoa, South West State of Somalia, with field travel to project districts (e.g. Baidoa, Hudur, Afgoye) as required.
- Duration
Two (2) months, with possibility of extension subject to performance and funding availability.
- Reporting and Supervision
- The Project Coordinator will report to the Director General of MoHADM.
- Works in close coordination withpartners,and relevant line ministries and other relevant stakeholders.
- Provides regular updates and reports as required.
- Purpose of the Position
The Project Coordinator is responsible for overall coordination, planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of SRSP–CBDRM activities supported by WFP, ensuring timely delivery, quality implementation, compliance, and effective coordination among government entities, communities, and partners.
- Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day coordination and implementation of SRSP–CBDRM activities.
- Coordinate establishment, training, and follow-up of District and Village Disaster Management Committees (DDMCs & VDMCs).
- Ensure activities align with government priorities, SRSP guidelines, and WFP standards.
- Coordinate closely with INSIGHT to ensure effective technical delivery of trainings and community engagement.
- Serve as the primary focal point for coordination between MoHADM and WFP at operational level.
- Prepare and submit monthly progress reportsin accordance with the project activity implementation and Contribute to the final progress report at project completion.

- Required Qualifications and Experience
- University degree in Disaster Risk Management, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in humanitarian coordination, DRM, social protection, or resilience programming.
- Proven experience working with government institutions, UN agencies, or international NGOs.
- Experience in CBDRM, early warning systems, or shock response programming is a strong asset.
- Skills & Competencies
- Strong coordination, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proven reporting and documentation abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight timelines.
- Strong understanding of the Somalia humanitarian and DRM context.
- Fluency in English and Somali (written and spoken).
