Project Officer: WASH

The Role:

To provide technical support to assigned WASH and Infrastructure projects in South West State, with an emphasis on Baidoa District. The incumbent will ensure the successful implementation of all state level WASH and Infrastructure interventions that directly contribute to the attainment of Child Wellbeing Outcomes. S/he will support the Project Manager WASH in overseeing the implementation of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) & Infrastructure projects, mobilizing appropriate resources, addressing Design, Monitoring & Evaluation issues related to WASH & Infrastructure activities and undertake capacity building of WASH & Infrastructure staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to all WASH & Infrastructure related projects and activities within the zone.
  • Provide technical support during assessment, planning, designing, baselines, monitoring, reporting and evaluation.
  • Engagement with strategic partners, linkages, networks & partnership development.
  • Reporting, Documentation & Knowledge Management.

Essential:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Civil Engineering/ Hydraulic Engineering/ Water Engineering or any other similar field.
  • Community Lead Total Sanitation (CLTS) and/ or Participatory Hygiene and Sanitation Methodology tools (PHAST).
  • Three years of experience in project implementation preferably Water  Sanitation hygiene or/ Health.
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office and Engineering Software that include AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, WaterCAD, EPANET.
  • Fluency in English and local Language- Somali.

Working Environment:

The position is field-based in Baidoa with frequent travels to project sites.
